Special Education Teacher - Cicero, Illinois

You will be working with a diverse student body, specifically in 9th and 10th grades with medically fragile students, and in a K/1 classroom with primarily nonverbal learners. Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• State certification in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain)
• Demonstrated experience working with medically fragile and/or nonverbal children preferred
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Superb communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Empathy, flexibility, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful classroom

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute individualized lesson plans tailored to each student’s unique learning and medical needs
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and nursing staff to ensure comprehensive student support
• Maintain accurate documentation regarding student progress and care requirements
• Advocate for student needs during IEP meetings and communicate regularly with families
• Foster a classroom environment that values safety, engagement, and emotional well-being
• Adapt instructional techniques and materials for diverse learning styles and communication modalities
