Special Education Teacher | Horseheads, New York

Qualifications & Required Experience:

• Valid and active New York State Special Education Teaching license with all relevant endorsements or certifications
• Experience teaching in an ED (Emotional Disturbance) classroom at the secondary level, ideally grades 11-12
• Background working within structured classroom environments and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, adapted instruction to students with emotional and behavioral support needs
• Develop and implement IEPs to address individual student goals
• Maintain classroom management and ensure a safe, respectful space for learning
• Liaise with paraprofessionals, support staff, and related service providers
• Document student progress and participate in team meetings as needed
• Communicate consistently with families, collaborating to support student growth
