Sign Language Interpreter in Gretna, LA

This contract opportunity runs from ASAP through late May 2027 and offers full-time hours—35 per week, Monday through Friday—aligned with the school calendar. Key Qualifications:

• Credentialed as a Sign Language Interpreter, with a minimum EIPA score of 4.0 (including the written). Must appear on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC) or meet RID/NIC requirements along with the written.
• Demonstrated previous experience with VOCO interpreting services.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with students, teachers, and school staff.
• Adaptability and professionalism in various educational settings.
• Commitment to confidentiality and fostering an inclusive atmosphere for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality interpreting for high school aged students, with your caseload to be determined based on needs.
• Support classroom learning and facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers.
• Provide accurate, impartial interpretation in a variety of educational situations, including lessons, assemblies, and events.
• Maintain professionalism and cultural sensitivity at all times.
• Stay up to date with best practices and requirements for educational interpreting.
