Key Qualifications:
- Hold a valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, with skills specific to K-12 educational settings
- Minimum score of 3.5 on the EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) required
- Experience supporting students in academic settings preferred
- Ability to adapt interpreting approaches to meet age-appropriate communication needs
- Commitment to fostering accessible, supportive classroom experiences
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, real-time interpreting services between spoken English and American Sign Language for students and school staff
- Facilitate clear communication during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure comprehensive access to the curriculum
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards as outlined for educational interpreters
- Travel to and provide services at one assigned location from the following: May River HS, Bluffton MS, Robert Smalls Leadership Academy (6th grade), or Battery Creek HS
Position Details:
- Start Date: August 3, 2026
- End Date: May 28, 2027
- 37.5 hours per week, contract position for the full academic year
- Placement at a single school site determined by program needs
