This contract position runs from ASAP through May 27, 2027, offering a consistently structured, full-time schedule—35 hours weekly, Monday through Friday—aligned with the school calendar. You’ll collaborate closely with a dedicated educational team to ensure accessible and inclusive communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Desired Background & Skills:
- Proven experience in schools as a Sign Language Interpreter, with a background in virtual interpreting (VOCO)
- EIPA score of 4.0 (performance and written) required and listed on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry
- Alternatively, current RID or NIC certification accepted, with written component also on file
- Comfortable working with high school-aged students; adaptable to caseload adjustments
- Ability to meet credentialing processes efficiently as new requirements are set
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Provide live or virtual sign language interpretation for students in various classroom settings
- Support student access across all school-based communications, instruction, and activities
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in every interaction
- Adapt to multiple school environments as needed (specific campus assignments pending)
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote the academic and social growth of students
