Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
- VQAS Level III or EIPA score of 3.5 highly desirable (final requirements forthcoming)
- Ability to adapt to fluctuating hours and diverse school assignments
- Willingness to complete a VA Department of Social Services background check promptly
- Able to provide documentation for a recent VA TB Test
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and clear interpretation services for students and school staff during classroom activities, meetings, and events
- Support students of various age groups, adapting communication styles as needed
- Maintain professional confidentiality and follow ethical interpreting standards at all times
- Respond promptly to on-call needs as determined by the district
- Collaborate with teaching staff to facilitate inclusive learning
