Sign Language Interpreter in Harvey, LA

Make a difference supporting students by helping bridge communication in an engaging high school environment as a Sign Language Interpreter. This contract position provides full-time hours (35 per week, Monday through Friday) during the school calendar, offering the chance to work closely with high school-aged learners in a dynamic educational setting near Harvey, LA.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Must possess an EIPA score of 4.0 with the written component, and be listed on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health)
• Alternatively, RID and NIC certifications accepted (must include written)
• Prior experience working with high school students or in a school setting preferred
• Ability to adapt communication style to various learning needs
• Commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreting practices
• Fingerprint clearance and drug screening required prior to start

Key Responsibilities:

• Translating spoken communication into American Sign Language (ASL) or other sign systems for high school students
• Supporting students’ full participation in classroom activities, assemblies, and school events
• Collaborating with teachers, staff, and special education teams to ensure accessibility and inclusivity
• Maintaining accurate records in accordance with school and district standards
• Adhering to the Code of Professional Conduct as set forth for interpreters in educational settings
