Make a difference in the lives of students with unique learning needs by taking on a rewarding Special Education teaching assignment in a supportive, dynamic school environment. Multiple contract positions are available, offering you the opportunity to work with diverse age groups and abilities. You’ll collaborate with a passionate team to help students thrive academically and personally.

Openings include a role supporting medically fragile 9th and 10th graders, as well as a K/1st grade classroom with mostly nonverbal students. Your compassion and creativity will help foster achievement and growth in these specialized settings.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Special Education Teaching certification in Illinois
  • Experience working with medically fragile students or students with complex health needs preferred (for the 9th/10th grade opening)
  • Previous experience supporting nonverbal students and familiarity with augmentative or alternative communication strategies (for the K/1st grade opening)
  • Patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, families, and administration
  • Commitment to differentiating instruction and creating inclusive learning environments

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and challenges
  • Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet a range of learning and communication needs
  • Foster a nurturing, safe, and engaging classroom atmosphere
  • Communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families to coordinate care and support
  • Monitor progress, collect data, and update documentation as needed
  • Provide guidance and encouragement to help each student reach their fullest potential
