Special Education Teacher | Mount Airy, Maryland

Make a meaningful impact supporting students with special needs as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. Two full-time, onsite contract positions are available to work with dedicated teams serving the local community near Mount Airy, MD. This rewarding opportunity spans from mid-August through early June and requires a passionate educator ready to adapt to unique learning environments.

Positions are based at Oakdale Middle School, supporting the Learning for Life Program with a caseload of 15 students, and at a second elementary site (to be determined) with a caseload of 10 students in a self-contained classroom. Schedules are 7:30-3:30 at Oakdale Middle, and 9:00-3:30 at the elementary level.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Active certification in Special Education, appropriate to assigned age group
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs
• Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
• Strong skills in classroom management and differentiated instruction
• Deep commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment for all learners

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction based on IEP goals
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
• Employ varied behavioral and academic interventions
• Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and support specialists
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school activities
• Maintain accurate records and comply with district requirements
