Job Description
Make a difference in the lives of students as a contract Special Education Teacher for the upcoming school year. Two full-time opportunities are available to provide support at Oakdale Middle (serving a caseload of 15 students in the Learning for Life Program) and at an additional elementary location (self-contained program with a caseload of 10 students). Both positions require a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment for students with diverse needs.
You’ll work onsite, collaborating with dedicated teams in vibrant school settings. The Middle School role runs from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, and the elementary position from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, following the academic calendar from August 17th through June 4th.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification for the grade level/age group of the assigned students
- Experience working with students with special needs in either elementary or middle school settings
- Strong instructional and communication skills
- Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and implement adaptive curriculum
- Commitment to collaboration with families, therapists, and support staff
- Skilled in classroom management strategies tailored for diverse learners
Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalized instruction and support for students in Life Skills or self-contained classrooms
- Develop, review, and update IEPs in coordination with the educational team
- Track student progress and adjust strategies accordingly
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
- Engage in ongoing communication with parents and colleagues
- Utilize a variety of instructional resources and methodologies
