Special Education Teacher - Sykesville, Maryland

Step into a dynamic educational environment and help make a difference as a Special Education Teacher this upcoming school year near Sykesville, MD. This is a full-time, onsite contract assignment spanning from August 17th through June 4th, collaborating with dedicated staff and working closely with students who rely on your expertise and empathy.

You will be placed at Oakdale Middle School and another elementary site (to be determined), where you’ll support specialized caseloads. At Oakdale, you’ll facilitate the Learning for Life Program, guiding up to 15 students, while at the second site, you’ll work with a self-contained classroom of 10 elementary students.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Certification appropriate for assigned age group (elementary or middle school)
• Experience or strong knowledge in instructional strategies for diverse learners and individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Ability to use positive behavior interventions and supports
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with families, support staff, and other educators

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and implement individualized lessons, activities, and assessments aligned with each student’s IEP
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and social-emotional development
• Document progress and participate in IEP meetings, partnering with related service providers as needed
• Adapt instructional materials to fit unique learning needs
• Communicate with caregivers and internal teams to ensure consistency and transparency
