Job Description
Make a meaningful impact by providing essential communication support in an educational setting. This full-time contract opportunity invites an experienced Sign Language Interpreter to work in a rewarding 1:1 assignment at an elementary school, supporting a student throughout their entire school day. The position spans from now through May 28, 2027, aligning with the school’s academic calendar.
Role Highlights:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- School Day: 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- One-on-one student support in a collaborative educational environment
- Stable assignment through the entirety of the school year
- Strict adherence to the school’s schedule is required
Required Qualifications:
- Active Alabama SLI/Interpreter license or permit
- Recognized interpreter certification preferred (such as RID, EIPA, BEI)
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is advantageous
- 1:1 student support experience is highly valued
- Demonstrated track record of reliable attendance and commitment
- Ability to maintain the standard school hours without modification
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time interpreting services for a designated student
- Facilitate clear communication between student, staff, and peers
- Contribute to creating an inclusive educational experience
- Collaborate closely with teachers and school professionals
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards
