Make a meaningful impact this school year by supporting a student’s daily learning and growth as a Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time, school-based contract opportunity involves providing dedicated 1:1 interpreting services at Chaffee Elementary School for the duration of the school year through May 28, 2027. You’ll be part of a caring educational environment and collaborate closely with school staff to ensure your student thrives.
What We’re Looking For:
- Current Alabama Sign Language Interpreter license or permit (required)
- Recognized interpreting certification (RID, EIPA, BEI, etc.) strongly preferred
- Previous experience supporting students in K-12 school settings
- Background providing 1:1 interpretation services is a plus
- Consistent attendance and the ability to fully commit to the school schedule (8:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Dependable transportation and punctuality
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language for a designated student throughout the school day
- Support your student in both classroom and non-classroom settings, facilitating access to all educational materials and activities
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and an encouraging learning environment
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff regarding student progress and needs
- Adhere to all school policies and best practices for interpreters
- Participate in team meetings as needed
