Step into a rewarding contract opportunity shaping the educational experience for students with diverse needs in a supportive school environment near Mount Airy, MD. Two full-time Special Education Teachers are needed for assignments beginning August 17th and continuing through June 4th.

Roles are based at Oakdale Middle School (serving 15 students in the Learning for Life Program, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM) and at an additional elementary site (self-contained classroom, approximately 10 students, 9:00 AM–3:30 PM). Both positions are onsite only and require a passion for individualized instruction, collaboration, and an ability to adapt strategies for different learning needs.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid Special Education certification appropriate to the age group of assignment
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that encourages educational growth
  • Ability to effectively manage classroom routines and behavior support

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction aligned with IEPs, ensuring each student’s goals are met
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress and behavior
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for inclusion within the school community
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain ongoing communication with families
  • Foster a supportive classroom atmosphere focused on safety, respect, and positive outcomes
