Make a difference every day as a high school Special Education Teacher in a vibrant and supportive school environment located near Cicero, IL. This full-time contract opportunity gives you the chance to work collaboratively while making a lasting impact on students’ educational journeys.

In this role, you’ll teach three inclusion classes and two resource classes, supported by two dedicated prep periods. You’ll manage a caseload of approximately 15 students, ensuring individualized education plans (IEPs) are developed, implemented, and monitored effectively. Collaboration is key—you’ll work closely with a knowledgeable Special Education Case Manager, who will assist in maintaining compliance and best practices.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with special education endorsements
  • Experience or strong interest in working with high school students who have diverse learning needs
  • Solid understanding of IEP processes, progress monitoring, and student documentation
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Provide engaging instruction in three inclusion and two resource classes
  • Oversee a manageable caseload of about 15 students
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Prepare and maintain all required documentation and progress reports
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings and collaborate with team members
  • Utilize your two prep periods for planning, grading, and professional growth
  • Work in partnership with the Special Education Case Manager to ensure compliance and support
