Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Kenner, Louisiana

Step into a vital role supporting high school students as an American Sign Language Interpreter for an educational contract in the New Orleans area. This full-time position runs from ASAP through late May 2027, offering the opportunity to work closely with students and staff in a dynamic school environment. The interpreter will primarily serve high school-aged individuals, with caseload and number of campus assignments to be determined.

Key Qualifications:

• EIPA score of 4.0 required, and EIPA written exam must be completed
• Must be listed on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry – Department of Health)
• Alternatively, possession of RID or NIC certifications will be accepted, provided the EIPA written exam criteria are met
• Prior experience in VOCO (virtual or onsite video interpreting services) is essential
• Comfortable with high school-age students and a school-based environment
• Excellent communication, flexibility, and collaboration skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation in classroom and school settings, adjusting to student needs
• Foster understanding and communication between students, staff, and educators
• Adapt interpreting techniques to different academic subjects and learning activities
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to educational planning as appropriate
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all professional and educational guidelines
