Step into a meaningful contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter serving high school students in the vibrant New Orleans area. This full-time position offers the chance to make a real impact on students’ access to education from August 19, 2026, through May 27, 2027. Your expertise will help bridge communication gaps and foster inclusivity within school settings.

Key Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with VOCO (Virtual Online Communication Options) platforms is essential
  • Ability to work full-time, 35 hours per week, following the Monday-Friday school calendar
  • Valid EIPA score of 4.0 (must include the written) and inclusion on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Department of Health); RID or NIC credentials considered with written component complete
  • Experience supporting high school age populations
  • Strong communication, adaptability, and professionalism for a dynamic educational environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver real-time sign language interpreting services to high school students across one or more campuses (specific assignments to be determined)
  • Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, teachers, and staff in both general education and specialized settings
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure students’ educational goals are met
  • Adhere to school policies and confidentiality standards
  • Participate in meetings, IEP sessions, and relevant school events as needed
