Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Hanover, Pennsylvania

Become an essential support for a high school student as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter for the entire 2026/2027 academic year. This rewarding contract opportunity involves working directly 1:1 with a student who relies on your expertise to participate fully in their academic journey. The flexible, part-time schedule—two days per week, ideally Mondays and Fridays—allows you to make a significant impact while maintaining work-life balance. In this position, you will facilitate regular academic programming at a dynamic high school campus, ensuring the student’s communication needs are met with professionalism and care.

Desired Qualifications:

• EIPA score of 3.5 or above
• Experience in educational settings, specifically K-12 environments
• Recent PA onboarding (within one year prior to start date)
• Comprehensive knowledge of interpreting for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
• Strong interpersonal, organization, and communication skills
• Commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreting practices

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation between American Sign Language and spoken English for a high school student during academic classes and activities
• Foster a supportive learning environment by facilitating effective communication with teachers, staff, and peers
• Adapt interpreting techniques and approaches to suit varying classroom activities and assignments
• Collaborate closely with the school team to ensure consistent communication access
