Step into a rewarding opportunity to support student success as a Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant educational setting. This full-time contract role focuses on one-on-one communication support for a student within a supportive school environment. As a skilled interpreter, you'll collaborate with educational teams to bridge communication and ensure access to learning for all.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Valid Maryland Sign Language Interpreter License (MD SLI License)
  • Expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and proficiency in educational interpreting situations
  • Experience providing one-on-one interpretation services, ideally in a school or youth-focused setting
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Commitment to fostering inclusion and educational access

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate interpretation between spoken English and ASL for a designated student throughout the school day
  • Facilitate communication between student, teachers, and peers during classroom instruction and school activities
  • Adapt interpretation methods to meet individualized student needs in a variety of academic settings
  • Partner closely with educators and support staff to monitor progress and adapt services as needed
  • Assist in maintaining confidentiality and upholding the educational standards of the role
