Special Education Teacher - Sterling Heights, MI

Step into a pivotal role as a Special Education Teacher and Director, shaping exceptional learning experiences for K-12 students and leading the development of special education programs. Based in a welcoming and supportive district, you’ll work directly with a manageable caseload of 10-18 students, ensuring each learner receives the individualized attention and support they deserve.

This full-time contract position begins immediately and extends through June 18, 2027, starting at 35 hours per week with an increase to 40 hours per week after Labor Day. You’ll play a vital role, both in providing direct instruction and in overseeing all special education programming and compliance responsibilities across the school.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification
• Demonstrated experience working with K-12 special education students
• Proven ability to manage and adapt curriculum for learners with diverse needs
• Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and documentation
• Skills in team leadership, collaboration, and communication
• Previous experience as a Special Education Director or in a related administrative capacity is highly valued

Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to students with special needs
• Oversee and direct special education services throughout the school
• Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations
• Lead and support a dedicated team of educators and support staff
• Manage caseload, including progress monitoring, reporting, and family communication
• Collaborate with administrators, general education staff, and outside agencies as needed
