Special Education Teacher in Sterling Heights, MI

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to middle school students' diverse needs
• Provide direct instruction in mathematics and support across academic content areas
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, managing varied student behaviors
• Work closely with general education staff, specialists, and families to maximize student growth
• Utilize data-driven instructional methods and monitor progress toward academic and behavioral goals
• Manage documentation and maintain compliance with school and state requirements
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and ongoing professional development

Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan teaching certification with Mathematics (EX) endorsement
• At least one of the following special education endorsements: Autism (SV), Cognitive Impairment (SA), Emotional Impairment (SE), or Learning Disabilities (SM)
• Previous experience working with middle school-aged students preferred
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to support students with varying strengths and needs
