Special Education Teacher | Sterling Heights, Michigan

Seeking a passionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to empower students with diverse learning needs. This in-person contract assignment is based near Sterling Heights, MI and spans the 2026-2027 school year. The successful educator will play a vital role in fostering academic and social growth, collaborating with school staff and families, and ensuring the personalized success of each student.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certification with Special Education (SPED) endorsement.
• Proven experience supporting students with mild to moderate special needs preferred.
• Strong understanding of individualized education plan (IEP) development and implementation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and encouraging classroom environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver specialized instruction tailored to each student’s IEP goals and needs.
• Conduct assessments, monitor progress, and maintain accurate documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support student integration and provide guidance on modifications or accommodations.
• Engage families and caregivers in ongoing communication regarding student progress and strategies for support.
• Foster a positive, nurturing, and respectful classroom atmosphere that celebrates diversity and growth.

This full-time contract position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students while working in partnership with a dedicated educational community. The contract runs from August 31, 2026, through June 23, 2027.
