Job Description
Step into an impactful contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher Consultant supporting middle school students. Collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to help shape individualized education plans and ensure student success.
This position runs from August 31, 2026, through June 11, 2027, offering 36.25 hours per week with a typical schedule from 8:05 AM to 3:05 PM, plus a 15-minute duty assignment before or after school. Situated in the greater Sterling Heights, MI area, you'll play a key role in supporting special education programming within a welcoming and resourceful environment.
What You Bring:
- Active Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsement in SM, SE, SA, or SV
- Teacher Consultant Approval or at least three years of successful special education teaching experience in Michigan
- Comprehensive understanding of IDEA, MARSE, and the full IEP process
- Past work supporting IEPs, 504s, METs, evaluations, MTSS, and progress monitoring
- Experience providing interventions, behavior support, and compliance assistance
- Strong skills in consultation, collaboration, and communication across teams and families
Your Responsibilities:
- Consult and collaborate with general educators, special educators, administrators, and related service providers
- Provide expertise and guidance to support implementation of IEPs, 504s, and the MET process
- Assist with evaluations, progress monitoring, and development of student interventions
- Support compliance with special education laws and requirements
- Offer ongoing support, coaching, and resources to ensure staff and student needs are met
