Special Education Teacher - Oxford, MI

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a young learner as a Cognitive Impairment (CI) Teacher. This role focuses on providing specialized instruction and developing individualized behavior and mental health strategies with a supportive interdisciplinary team. The assignment runs through June 11, 2027, offering consistent full-time hours in an onsite setting near Oxford, MI, at a dedicated educational center.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current CI (Cognitive Impairment) certification required
• Background in special education and experience working with students with ASD characteristics
• Strong understanding of behavior interventions and mental health support strategies
• Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
• Compassionate, adaptable, and student-focused mindset
• Excellent communication and recordkeeping skills

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with an individual student (age 8 or 9) providing direct instruction and tailored support
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Promote social, emotional, and cognitive development using evidence-based strategies
• Support and monitor behavioral and mental health needs, adapting plans as needed
• Collaborate daily with teachers, therapists, and other team members
• Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports according to guidelines
• Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to ongoing program improvement
• Engage parents/guardians through consistent updates and partnership
