Key qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification in Cognitive Impairment (CI) required
- Experience or strong interest in working with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASD)
- Background in managing behavioral and mental health needs in an educational setting
- Effective collaboration skills for working within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to providing compassionate, individualized student support
Core responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction and support to one elementary-aged student (8 or 9 years old) with cognitive and behavioral needs
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to the student’s IEP goals
- Assess and document progress, adjusting strategies as needed to maximize learning outcomes
- Employ behavior management techniques to foster a positive, supportive classroom environment
- Collaborate actively with the school’s team to coordinate services, interventions, and support strategies
- Build strong relationships with the student and their support network, ensuring a holistic approach
This role follows a consistent Monday–Friday schedule, 7:30 am to 2:45 pm, allowing you to maintain work–life balance while making a significant difference. The assignment is based onsite throughout the contract period and emphasizes a united, collaborative approach to student success.
