Key Qualifications:
- Active certification in Cognitive Impairment (CI) required
- Special Education teaching experience, especially with cognitive impairment or Autism Spectrum Disorder populations, highly desired
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to develop individualized strategies
- Experience supporting the behavioral and mental health needs of students
- Able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and support staff
- Empathetic, patient, and passionate about inclusive education
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction for an elementary-aged student (8 or 9 years old) with cognitive and behavioral needs
- Lead, plan, and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) centered around student strengths
- Apply proactive behavioral and mental health support in collaboration with a dedicated team
- Develop engaging, adaptable lesson plans that foster social, emotional, and academic growth
- Communicate progress regularly with team members and families
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and collaborative planning sessions
