Embark on a meaningful career journey supporting students from Pre-K through 8th grade in a dedicated district psychologist position. This contract opportunity is perfect for a school psychologist who thrives in an evaluative and consultative environment, offering focused engagement without routine day-to-day student or staff interactions. Located conveniently near Des Plaines, IL, you’ll be based at the district office, allowing you to concentrate on evaluations and process oversight.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) and School Psychologist endorsement (pending licenses considered for travel professionals)
  • Prior experience in school-based psychological evaluation preferred
  • Expertise conducting domain meetings, completing evaluations, and managing the early intervention transition process (experience with TPBA beneficial)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and attend MTSS referral meetings as needed
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort working independently in a district-wide role
  • Willingness to adapt to caseload demands (approximately 63 evaluations completed last school year)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate domain meetings in coordination with staff and families
  • Complete comprehensive psychological evaluations
  • Oversee the Early Intervention (EI) transition process, including TPBA when appropriate (17 cases last year)
  • Attend MTSS referral meetings for individual student cases as required
  • Maintain thorough documentation and adhere to district policies

Schedule:

  • Contract position beginning as soon as possible through June 19, 2027
  • Typical work hours are 7:45 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday
