Occupational Therapist School Setting in Des Plaines, IL

Step into an engaging contract opportunity supporting students in two middle schools near Des Plaines, IL. This position begins ASAP with a full-time schedule of 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM, Monday through Friday. You’ll work alongside a dedicated group of eight Occupational Therapists, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

In this role, you will contribute to building-level teams, conducting initial and re-evaluations to establish special education eligibility. You’ll provide targeted support through both the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and the development/monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Consultation with interdisciplinary teams will be essential to ensure that students are generalizing skills across settings.

Preferred Background:

• Valid Occupational Therapist licensure in Illinois (or eligibility)
• Experience working in schools, especially at the middle school level
• Familiarity with MTSS and IEP processes
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Core Responsibilities:

• Complete assessments and re-evaluations to determine students’ service needs
• Deliver direct OT support as indicated on IEPs and through MTSS
• Consult with teachers and staff to support skill carryover
• Document and maintain compliance with all required records
• Participate in school teams and contribute to ongoing professional development

Pay for this position starts at $43 per hour, based on experience. There is potential for contract renewal for candidates who are a great fit.
