Step into a rewarding opportunity making a meaningful difference in the lives of middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained classroom. This full-time contract position kicks off August 31, 2026, and runs through June 25, 2027. You'll serve in a resource room setting, delivering vital instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in a highly collaborative, supportive environment.

Your expertise will help shape individualized education experiences, building on students’ strengths and potential. This is an onsite position that allows you to foster strong relationships with students, families, and fellow educators.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Michigan teaching license with a Special Education endorsement (please include certification with application)
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting students with a variety of learning differences in a resource room or self-contained classroom
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working effectively with colleagues, families, and related service providers
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs and assessment-driven instruction
  • Flexibility, creativity, and a problem-solving mindset

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction tailored to individual student needs in a resource room setting
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Collaborate with general education staff, support staff, and families to ensure student success
  • Regularly assess student progress, adjust instruction, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
