Job Description
Step into a transformative role as a Teacher Consultant supporting middle school special education programs for the 2026–2027 school year. This contract opportunity runs from August 31, 2026, through June 11, 2027, with a consistent weekly schedule totaling 36.25 hours and a touch of flexibility for brief duty times before or after the school day. Based near Detroit, you’ll serve as a vital resource for students, educators, and families, making a meaningful difference in educational outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Active Michigan Teaching Certificate with SM, SE, SA, or SV endorsement (required)
- Teacher Consultant Approval OR at least 3 years of successful special education teaching experience in Michigan
- In-depth understanding of IDEA, MARSE regulations, and the IEP process
- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including teachers, administrators, and related service providers
- Exceptional communication skills, with a history of effective family engagement and advocacy
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted consultation and coaching to middle school staff to support special education programming
- Lead and assist with IEP meetings, 504 plans, METs, and MTSS & progress monitoring initiatives
- Deliver student interventions, behavior support strategies, and ensure ongoing program compliance
- Act as a bridge among students, families, faculty, and administrative teams to foster inclusive, achievement-driven environments
