Special Education Teacher | Longmont, Colorado

Step into a meaningful role where you’ll support young adults with special needs on their journey toward independence and job readiness. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to make a tangible difference as a Transitions Intensive Teacher, guiding students aged 18-21 within a dynamic educational environment.

You’ll work with a manageable caseload of 12 students and collaborate with a passionate team, teaching job readiness and life skills both in the classroom and the community. Your expertise will help each student confidently transition into adulthood. Engage in impactful daily activities from 8 am to 4 pm, providing structured instruction and real-world learning experiences.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active Colorado Department of Education (CDE) license, or verifiable proof of being in process (required before interview)
• Minimum one year of classroom experience
• Demonstrated experience in writing IEPs, developing Behavioral Support Plans (BSPs), and collecting and analyzing student data
• Ability to create and implement transition-focused curriculum
• Flexible, collaborative mindset and a strong team orientation
• Passion for supporting diverse learners in a classroom and community setting

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging instruction on work readiness and independent living skills
• Develop individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior plans
• Collect, interpret, and apply student data to enhance outcomes
• Partner with colleagues and families to support student growth
• Facilitate community-based learning experiences
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory and documentation requirements
