Sunbelt is seeking a dedicated and highly collaborative Special Education Teacher to support middle school students in a resource setting in Bloomington, MN. The ideal candidate will have strong instructional skills, excellent attendance, and the ability to create a structured, supportive classroom environment

Position: Special Education Resource Teacher
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to middle school students in a resource setting
  • Develop and implement effective classroom structures, routines, and behavior supports
  • Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans and behavior strategies if needed
  • Deliver strong, differentiated instruction based on individual student needs
  • Collaborate closely with special education and general education teachers
  • Coordinate and collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure consistent student support
  • Support student progress toward IEP goals and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and other members of the student support team
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance

Qualifications

Required: Minnesota Teaching Credential in one of the following areas:

  • Special Education: Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Special Education: Developmental Disabilities
  • Special Education: Early Childhood
  • Special Education: Emotional Behavioral Disorders
  • Special Education: Learning Disabilities
  • Special Education: Academic & Behavioral Strategist

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have excellent attendance and reliability
  • Be knowledgeable about behavior plans and behavioral supports
  • Have strong classroom management skills and an understanding of effective classroom structures and routines
  • Demonstrate strong instructional and differentiation skills
  • Work effectively with both special education and general education teams
  • Have experience scheduling, directing, and collaborating with paraprofessionals
  • Build positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Be organized, flexible, and committed to student success
