Job Description
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students’ growth and development as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Serve a manageable caseload of up to 10 students, working in a collaborative environment that includes paraprofessionals and an intervener to help you deliver exceptional support. This position spans the academic year, offering a consistent schedule of 37.5–40 hours per week.
The focus is on elementary students with a preference for candidates experienced in working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). You’ll play a vital role in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), fostering a welcoming and productive classroom atmosphere, and advocating for student needs within an inclusive school community.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Active Special Education teaching license through PELSB/MDE (requirement)
- Preferences given to ASD-endorsed, Tier 2 educators
- Experience delivering instruction and supports for diverse learners in elementary settings
- Familiarity with current special education best practices, particularly autism interventions
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paras, intervener, and district personnel
- Strong organizational and communication skills for documentation, meetings, and parental engagement
