Step into a rewarding full-time role serving elementary students as a Special Education Teacher, working in a structured Special Day Class (SDC) environment. This contract opportunity, based near Grass Valley, CA, covers the 2026-2027 school year. You'll support a dedicated caseload of 9-10 students, with the potential for up to 14, guiding them toward success while building lasting connections and fostering independence. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM, with possible occasional extensions to accommodate IEP meetings, which are typically scheduled within the school day.

What you bring:

  • Current, active California mild/moderate teaching credential (required)
  • Experience as a Special Education Teacher, especially in SDC settings or with elementary-aged children
  • Strong understanding of compliance, IEP development, implementation, and collaboration with colleagues and families
  • Commitment to individualized instruction, positive behavior supports, and the maintenance of a supportive classroom climate
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivering differentiated instruction and support to a caseload of 9-10 elementary SDC students
  • Crafting and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), with an estimated 9-10 annual reviews/meetings throughout the year
  • Collaborating with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and families for comprehensive student support
  • Collecting data to track progress and inform instructional decisions
  • Maintaining compliance with all state regulations and documentation requirements
  • Creating an inclusive, positive classroom culture promoting academic and social growth
