Job Description
Step into a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of K-6th grade students as a Special Education Teacher for a contract assignment beginning August 12, 2026, and running through May 18, 2027. This role offers the chance to manage a caseload of 20 students, ensuring their unique educational needs are supported in an encouraging and collaborative environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active AL K-6th certification required
- Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and implementation
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students in grades K-6
- Manage a caseload of approximately 20 students, delivering services in accordance with each student’s IEP
- Conduct assessments and help develop individualized education plans
- Write clear, targeted IEPs and participate in IEP meetings with families and staff
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth
- Collaborate with fellow educators, administrators, and families to promote student success
This contract assignment is for 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. You’ll have the opportunity to provide both direct instruction and case management support, developing deep connections with your students and their families.
