Special Education Teacher in Lake Orion, MI

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Michigan Special Education Teaching Certification with Cognitive Impairment (CI) endorsement (required)
• Demonstrated experience or strong capability in working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) characteristics
• Proven ability to manage behavioral plans and support mental health in a school setting
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
• Able to work onsite during scheduled hours of 7:30 am – 2:45 pm, Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead instruction and individualized support for a student with cognitive and behavioral needs
• Collaborate closely with a full multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and monitor individual education plans (IEPs)
• Integrate effective strategies to manage behavior and address mental health
• Maintain ongoing communication with family members and the educational team
• Document student progress and adjust teaching approaches as needed
