Job Description
Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting students with cognitive impairments in an onsite contract position extending through June 2027. Located near Lake Orion, this opportunity focuses on meeting the intensive needs of a single student, aged 8 or 9, who requires a blend of Cognitive Impairment (CI) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) instructional methods. Work collaboratively within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment that values your expertise in behavior management and mental health interventions.
Qualifications:
- Current certification in Cognitive Impairment (CI) is required
- Prior experience supporting students with ASD highly preferred
- Ability to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral supports
- Strong skills in collaboration and communication with families, teachers, and related service providers
- Passion for guiding students with diverse learning and social-emotional needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction and behavioral support to one elementary-aged student
- Collaborate closely with a team of educators and specialists to develop tailored strategies
- Monitor and support the student’s academic, social, and emotional progress
- Create and adapt lesson materials to fit evolving needs
- Document interventions and outcomes; contribute to team meetings and IEP reviews
- Support a positive, productive learning environment and model best practices
