Special Education Teacher - Lake Orion, MI

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification with a Cognitive Impairment (CI) endorsement—CI certification required
• Experience or strong interest in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Proven ability to implement behavior management strategies and provide mental health support
• Passion for individualized instruction and positive behavioral approaches
• Excellent collaboration skills for working within a full team model
• Strong organizational skills and a compassionate communication style

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction and interventions for one student, aged 8 or 9, focusing on cognitive and behavioral growth
• Collaborate with educational specialists, aides, therapists, and families to develop and implement student-centered plans
• Monitor progress, proactively adjust supports, and document outcomes
• Apply effective de-escalation, behavioral, and mental health techniques to foster a positive learning environment
• Participate fully onsite at the Ed Tech Center during designated hours (7:30am – 2:45pm)
