Special Education Teacher in Troutman, NC

Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting students with unique learning needs. This contract position spans the 2026–2027 school year, running from August 13, 2026, to June 3, 2027. The role offers a consistent weekday schedule, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with up to 40 hours per week.

You'll serve a caseload of 15–18 middle and high school students, providing crucial support in specialized educational settings. Whether you’re assisting learners at the Discovery School who follow the extended content standard with high levels of autism, supporting resource students at a local middle school, or fostering inclusion in a high school resource setting, your skills will make a difference every day.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid Adapted Curriculum (Special Education) teaching license
• Experience working with middle and/or high school students
• Familiarity with autism support and extended content standards
• Ability to manage and differentiate instruction for a caseload
• Collaborative mindset to partner with staff, families, and the community
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Differentiate and adapt curriculum to meet each student’s unique needs
• Employ evidence-based instructional strategies and behavioral supports
• Collaborate with general educators, families, and support professionals
• Monitor progress, maintain data, and adjust strategies as needed
• Participate in ongoing professional development and IEP meetings
