Special Education Teacher in Trinity, NC

Make an impact by delivering specialized instruction to both elementary and high school students in an adaptive (functional skills) environment. This contract-to-hire opportunity is perfect for a Special Education Teacher seeking a dynamic role, working with a diverse caseload of 15 students: 6 from the elementary school and 9 from the high school, all conveniently located on the same campus near Trinity, NC.

In this position, you will be the teacher of record, collaborating closely with an experienced unlicensed colleague who has been facilitating instruction in these settings for over a year. Your expertise will help ensure compliance and drive meaningful progress for students with varied needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Certification in Exceptional Children: Adapted Curriculum (K-12) preferred, but open to applicants with other EC certifications.
• Experience working in adaptive/functional skills classrooms highly valued.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with support staff and administrators.
• Ability to manage a caseload of both elementary and high school students.
• Knowledge of compliance standards and IEP processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver innovative and tailored instruction for both elementary and high school adaptive classrooms.
• Serve as the teacher of record, overseeing educational plans and compliance.
• Coordinate with the unlicensed classroom teacher to facilitate instruction and ensure student needs are being met.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in partnership with families and the school team.
• Maintain accurate records and provide ongoing communication regarding student progress.
