Special Education Teacher in Statesville, NC

Make a meaningful impact as a contract Special Education Teacher in the Statesville area, working with dedicated teams to support middle and high school students with special needs. This full-time opportunity runs from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027, following a Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, for up to 40 hours weekly. You’ll work with a caseload of 15-18 students with diverse learning requirements, focusing on those with high levels of autism who follow an extended content standard curriculum.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

• Valid Adapted Curriculum Special Education Teaching License (required for Discovery School)
• Experience with students on the autism spectrum, especially those following extended content standards
• Proficient in working with both middle and high school students
• Familiarity with inclusive classrooms, resource, and adapted curriculum settings
• Strong collaboration skills with special education and general education staff, therapists, and families
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized instruction and behavioral plans based on student IEPs
• Adapt curriculum materials to meet diverse learning needs
• Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate actively in IEP meetings
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate with parents/guardians regularly
