Special Education Teacher in Statesville, NC

Make a meaningful impact supporting middle and high school students as a Special Education Teacher in a vibrant educational setting. This contract opportunity runs from mid-August 2026 through early June 2027, with a full-time Monday through Friday schedule. You’ll be a vital part of a collaborative team, working with students who have diverse needs and inspiring growth in every classroom.

Your caseload will include 15-18 students, providing support through adapted curriculum, resource, or inclusion settings. This position is suited for educators who are passionate about meeting students where they are and helping each individual progress with dignity and encouragement.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid and active Adapted Curriculum License (for Discovery School opening)
• Demonstrated experience in special education settings—middle or high school preferred
• Familiarity with the extended content standard, particularly for students on the autism spectrum
• Strong collaborative skills to partner effectively with other educators, support staff, and families
• Competency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Compassionate approach with patience, creativity, and adaptability

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction tailored to a variety of educational needs, including adapted curriculum and resource/inclusion models
• Develop and track IEPs, assessing student progress and adjusting instructional strategies as needed
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment supporting emotional, behavioral, and academic development
• Collaborate with team members to design strategies that help students succeed across settings
• Utilize data and observations to guide interventions and curriculum decisions
