Special Education Teacher - Sykesville, Maryland

Two full-time positions are available, covering the upcoming academic year from August 17th through June 4th. You’ll work onsite across two settings—Oakdale Middle School (with a set caseload of 15 students in the Learning for Life Program, 7:30am to 3:30pm) and a second elementary site, soon to be determined, with a self-contained classroom serving 10 students (9:00am to 3:30pm).

Key Qualifications:

• Current certification in Special Education appropriate to the age group assigned
• Experience working with diverse student populations, ideally in a school setting
• Strong communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments

Your Responsibilities:

• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) with creativity and care
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet each student’s unique needs and learning goals
• Collaborate with general educators, paraprofessionals, and support staff
• Maintain consistent documentation and progress tracking
• Engage positively with parents and guardians, sharing student progress and strategies
• Contribute to a culture of respect, encouragement, and growth for all learners
