Job Description

Make a real impact supporting students with complex needs in a highly specialized educational environment. This contract paraprofessional opportunity offers the chance to work closely with students who require intensive special education services through the entirety of their school day. Located at a dedicated learning center serving elementary through high school students, you will help foster a safe, structured, and compassionate classroom atmosphere.

Key Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be Highly Qualified as a paraprofessional in Minnesota (completed Paraprofessional/ParaEducator Exam OR at least 60 college credits—official transcripts required)
  • Willingness and ability to support students with significant behavioral needs and severe disabilities
  • Comfort assisting with physical care needs, including toileting, as required
  • Experience working within special education settings preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for partnering with teachers and behavior specialists
  • Readiness to work with students ranging from elementary through high school (please note any age group preferences)

Role Details:

  • Contract position running from September 8, 2026, through June 10, 2027
  • 32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday
  • Supporting students in a “Setting 4” special education program (students are in special education all day)
  • Collaborate with classroom staff to implement individualized education and behavior plans
  • Assist students with daily routines, adaptive skills, and academic instruction
  • Opportunity for direct hire after 422 contract hours

You will play a pivotal role in creating opportunities for students with the highest needs to thrive. This is a demanding, hands-on role where patience, resilience, and compassion are essential. Pay begins at $20 per hour, with direct hire arrangements possible after the contract requirement is fulfilled.
