Special Education Teacher - Taylorsville, NC

Working Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm (up to 40 hours per week), you’ll collaborate with compassionate professionals in an environment designed to empower every student.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Adapted Curriculum license required for placement at Discovery School.
• Experience working with middle and/or high school students, especially those with high-level autism or on an adapted curriculum.
• Expertise in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Understanding of extended content standards and accommodation strategies.
• Strong communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to fostering inclusive, positive, and growth-oriented classroom environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Teach and support classrooms of 15-18 students, adapting instruction to meet a range of academic, behavioral, and social needs.
• Create engaging lesson plans tailored to extended content standards and individualized goals.
• Monitor student progress, adjust strategies, and document growth in line with IEP requirements.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and school staff to provide consistent, holistic support.
• Engage with families, offering updates and insights into student development.
• Follow school procedures and maintain a safe, supportive environment for all learners.
