Special Education Teacher - Cornelius, NC
Job Description
Dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of students, you’ll have the opportunity to work as an Exceptional Children Teacher in an elementary separate setting classroom. This role involves supporting a class of 10 students, working collaboratively with 2 talented teaching assistants. The schedule runs from 7:30am to 3:00pm, providing a consistent daily routine with afternoons free for planning or personal time.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility to obtain)
- Previous experience in special education, preferably with elementary students
- Ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong understanding of evidence-based instructional strategies for diverse learners
- Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with teaching assistants, parents, and school administrators
- Organizational skills to maintain accurate records and support classroom management
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop engaging and adaptive lessons tailored to individual student needs
- Create a safe, inclusive, and structured environment that encourages student growth
- Collaborate daily with teaching assistants to provide consistent support and interventions
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and make informed instructional adjustments
- Partner with related service providers and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Foster strong relationships with students, families, and the wider school community
