Job Description
Embark on a meaningful contract role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher, working with middle and high school learners in a supportive and collaborative setting. This position begins August 13, 2026, and continues through June 3, 2027. With up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, you'll have the structure and flexibility needed to make a lasting difference.
You will be responsible for a caseload of 15-18 students with high levels of autism, each following the extended content standard. The available opportunities cover a range of instructional settings, including an adapted curriculum classroom, a resource-focused middle school program, and an inclusion/resource model at the high school level.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Current licensure in adapted curriculum (required for the Discovery School role)
- Experience teaching students with varying disabilities, especially autism spectrum disorders
- Ability to develop and adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs
- Strong collaboration skills for working with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive environment
- Flexibility to work in resource, inclusion, and adapted settings
Role responsibilities include:
- Creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Modifying instruction to target student strengths and needs
- Providing direct instruction and facilitating inclusion in general education settings
- Collecting and maintaining student progress data
- Participating in team meetings and ongoing professional development
