Special Education Teacher | Longmont, Colorado

Make a real impact shaping the lives of young adults with special needs as a Transitions Intensive Teacher. This full-time contract position focuses on preparing 18 to 21-year-old students for life after school by teaching job readiness and independent living skills in both classroom and community settings. You'll work onsite at a dedicated transitions center, fostering growth and purpose for a manageable caseload of 12 exceptional students.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) license (active or in process; required before interview)
• At least one year of classroom teaching experience in a school setting
• Background in special education and a passion for supporting young adults with unique learning needs
• Strong teamwork mentality and flexibility working with diverse colleagues and families
• Proficient in writing and implementing IEPs and Behavior Support Plans (BSP); skilled in data collection and documentation

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional instruction in life, work, and social skills vital for student independence
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create individualized educational plans
• Support students inside the classroom and in the broader community to transfer learning into real-life contexts
• Collect and analyze progress data, maintaining up-to-date IEP and BSP records
• Communicate regularly with families and transition agencies to ensure comprehensive support
• Uphold high standards of inclusion, respect, and student advocacy
