Unlock an impactful teaching experience with a contract Special Education position at the high school level, set in beautiful Connecticut. This in-person role begins September 1 and continues through Thanksgiving, offering a meaningful opportunity to make a positive difference during a pivotal stretch of the school year.

The position focuses on supporting high school students with a range of learning needs. Your schedule includes co-teaching three Algebra 1 classes, facilitating two Academic Lab sessions, and managing the educational plans for students who receive pull-out services. As a key member of the educational team, you'll have the chance to collaborate with general education faculty, provide targeted instruction, and ensure each student’s educational needs are met.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • State certification in Special Education (Connecticut) required
  • Previous experience in a high school setting is highly valued
  • Strong collaboration skills for co-teaching environments
  • Familiarity with Algebra 1 curriculum and differentiation strategies
  • Experience in case management and writing IEPs
  • Effective communication with students, families, and staff
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere

Responsibilities include:

  • Co-teaching Algebra 1 courses in partnership with general educators
  • Leading Academic Lab periods that support diverse learners
  • Managing student caseloads and overseeing the delivery of IEP services
  • Regularly communicating with families and school personnel regarding student progress
  • Adapting instruction to accommodate various learning styles and abilities
  • Maintaining thorough documentation related to student supports and progress
