Located near New Britain, CT, this contract role focuses on providing personalized teaching and collaborative support for grades 9-12. As a learning specialist, you will play a vital part in enhancing student development through targeted interventions and inclusive classroom strategies.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification
  • Experience supporting students in grades 9-12 with mild to moderate disabilities
  • Skills in delivering both reading and math interventions
  • Understanding of co-teaching models and inclusive classroom practices
  • Strong case management and organizational abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and colleagues

Responsibilities:

  • Case manage a caseload of 10-15 high school students, ensuring individualized education plans are implemented and documented appropriately
  • Deliver targeted reading and math interventions designed to address specific academic needs
  • Provide co-taught instructional services within grade-level ELA and Math classrooms, supporting both academic and social-emotional growth
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies
  • Maintain clear and consistent documentation on student progress and IEP compliance
